What’s your story?

I’ve shared many stories over the years. Some happy, others sad. But there has been so many memorable moments that have stuck with me during my career.

I started as a fresh-faced journalist at the Caboolture News/Bribie Weekly/Island and Mainland News way back in September 2008. Working in local community news definitely set me on a path of knowing which direction of writing I wanted to head in – feature writing.

The Local Times – Moreton Bay

I joined the then Feature Magazine in 2018, writing a few stories here and there before officially becoming their Feature Writer in June 2020. It’s a role that allowed me to interview the likes of Marcia Hines, Joe Camilleri, Tom Thum, Sharyn Ghidella, Lakeisha Patterson and so many more.

While interviewing celebrities and sporting stories certainly is exciting, it’s the local community and their stories that I really love sharing.

The Local News

In December 2021, I joined The Local News team and was given the role of senior journalist. My role allows me to chat with many locals in the community and it’s a privilege to tell their stories.

I am also heavily involved in editing and approving the draft of the paper before it goes to print.

Caboolture Guide
Community stories are always fun and definitely engage with the local audience and beyond.  The Caboolture Guide is a great little magazine covering fun pieces for gigs, events and local people stories.

Check out some of my stories here.

North Lakes Guide
The North Lakes Guide covers news and stories for locals, written by locals.

Editing
As much as I love to write, I also love editing! You won’t catch me running after you with a red pen in hand, but it’s certainly food for thought. I edit all the content for the The Local News and also for another company called Australian Council for Educational Research.

Blogging
I have been writing business blogs (yes, that entails SEO) for multiple industries covering weddings, sports, concrete, physiology, tourism, web design and more for the team at Web Marketing Angels since November 2021.

Personal Blogging
On a more light hearted note, I have also written my own personal blogs since becoming a mum in 2013.  I also had the opportunity to share some of my “wisdom” with My Child Magazine, writing as their Mummy Blogger for a few years.
